wheelbase widening

cheap ways? i have 285/75/16 bfg ats and i want to widen my wheelbase. i dont want those extensions though they seem breakable. i have the stock ford rims on. if i get wider rims will the tires widen out and stick out of the body?

I think you are talking about widening your track width......wheelbase is the distance between the front and rear axles.

Less backspacing as mentioned with a wider wheel and tire. But this will also put more load on the front end componants and change your scrub radius. Not a big deal if you don't get too carried away.
