Wheels and tires

My Explorer Sport has the optional 16 inch chrome wheels. How large of a tire can I get on them without problems?

I'm almost positive ppl have said 31", but I know you can do 30" no prob

Thanks for the help! If I go with 30" tires on the stock 16 inch wheels, what 30" tire size works without problems? 30/??/16??

I think 235/75/16 is the most common... that is 29.9" dia and 9.3" wide... not sure though
