Do the holes line up? And does it completly fill the intended hole/space?

I was going to adapt 6x9's to fit, but then i say how the speakers were placed, using the mouting plate to angle it towards the centre of the car. Anyways, i've put in some decent replacement upfronts, but the sound still does not really sound as full as i would like, like it's all comming from the front (which of course with the good speakers up there, is pretty much true) so i gotta put something in the back, and 6.5"s are cheaper.

Thanks
Matt.

Nope, the holes will not line up but I guess in the back of your head you already know that. But don't let that stop you- make new holes. Just remember when it comes to speakers, quality is definitely much much more important than size.

what would be good quality speakers to get then. does it make a big deffernce on the differnce sizes of speakers.

Hey, it just occured to me, is a round speaker better than a non-round one? Generally speaking?

Second, in the ever present search for bass, could one place 6.5" mid-range or bass speakers in the rear? Or would the lack of a cross over really just make them sound bad?

In which case, the consensus seems to be for components, can these be installed easily, or is it better done by a shop?

Not to be rude, but I swear I answered this question myself at least twice; and before installing mine I saw a few threads on it. Try a search!

But anyway, I put a set of components in up front, Focal Polykevlar 165k (6.5" essentially) and it was rather easy. I made some brackets from 3/4" MDF to adapt the speakers into the stock holes and it worked perfectly! I'll see if I can dig up the pics...

Also, round is better because of the concentricity (is that a word?) of the speaker it creates a more uniform wave vs. the 5x7 or 6x9 ovular (is that another made-up word?) speaker shape. Someone else may be able to drop some physics in, I try to forget that class ;)
