where do moon roof drains exit body?

i noticed that the moon roof leaks when it rains really hard. i know there are some drains (2 or maybe 4?) and that is is common for the drain hoses/lines to become clogged. my question is, where do these drains exit the body? and can they be blown out with compressed air, or will this just rupture the lines?

There are 4 drains. The front drains exit through the 2 front "A" pillars and the rear drains run through the "B" pillars behind the front doors. I would think that at normal compressor pressures you should be fine. The lines are semi hard plastic.

it seems to be the front drains that are clogged, as the truck was parked angled slightly uphill and the leaks seem to originate across the front of the opening equally. can the drains lines be seen from below? i think it would be more effective to blow air up rather than down.

Im not sure about the back ones but you might be able to peek out the front ones with the moon roof open. Kinda move the weatherstripping out of the way and look in the corners like mentioned earlier.

This may not be your problem; I've noticed that when I close my moonroof I have to be careful to stop it as soon as it shuts otherwise the back kicks up a bit.

I know it's a position of the moonroof, I have the same thing on my BMW except on the BMW there's a definite shut before the back comes up unlike the Ex.

ok, i got out the step ladder, opened the moon roof and expected to see the drain holes in the corners. i don't see anything. i also stuck my head underneath the truck at the a-pillar hoping to see a drain line. didn't see anything. so now what? - help...

sorry, i'm still not getting it. i don't want to pull the headliner out unless i have no other choice and your pic's don't show where the lines exit. can the lines be blown out from under the vehicle? should i be able to see them from underneath?

I think that you are going to find that you need a "wire like" cleaner (fish tape maybe).... further, you will then be able determine where the blockage starts (ie. distance from entry point).

yes, but i don't have anywhere to fish the line if i can't find either end of it. am i not being clear, or just being dense? can i, or can i not, see the lines from under the vehicle? is removing the headliner my only option?

The lines don't actually exit out the bottom. In the front they stop inside the inner fender, and the rear stop down in the lower rocker panel in front of the wheel well. You can't see them up top because the "drain tray" or whatever the correct name is about 4-5" deep at the corners where the drains are. By deep I mean 4-5" out from the opening towards the pillars. Unfortunately I think you're going to have to take down the headliner, I don't know of any other way. Maybe someone else knows some trick or shortcut. The spot where the drain tube attaches is where you can use compressed air to blow down the tube as well as back up to the moon roof drain hole area.

thanks albi1cnobi1. that's what i needed to know. i've been doing some Google'ing and it seems dropping the headliner isn't that hard to do, just trying to avoid it if at all possible. guess not. once it's outta my way it looks like blowing or fishing the drain lines will be easy enough.
