It's located on the driver's side fender. I pulled the end of the hose out so it hangs over the fender. It comes out of the black box.

Also, what is this piece laying on the intake ? And where is it supposed to be mounted. Obviously it's not right. LOL

...first, the hose is for your cruise control and plugs into the vacuum tree where the cap is...the item on your manifold hangs between your purge canister(aka charcoal box) and your intake manifold...the vacuum line for this item runs from the intake front area to the purge canister...what i don't see is the electrical plug for the solenoid...i hope this helps...;)

Yep big hose is cruise & goes to the the T fitting at the back of the upper manifold.
The other thing is your purge valve. It's supposed to be mounted under the intake manifold, near the throttle body. I'd suspect the electrical connector is under there some where.

on my 95 the purge valve was mounted toward the driver side fender well next to the AC pump. Then it ran down to the charcoal canister from there. There should also be a sensor on that line that tells the condition/pressure of the purge valve (but that may have been an addition with the EEC-V (OBDII) system

Is there any reason why someone would leave the cc unplugged on purpose? The previous owner was a mechanic.

Where abouts is the vacuum tree that I need to find?
Is it in any of the pics above?

The guy was a mechanic and the inside of his engine compartment looked like that:scratch:

In the bottom photo towards the back drivers side of the upper intake there is a slight glimse of the vacum tree. it is also attached to your brake booster just follow the line from the brake booster to the vacum tree.

maybe it doesn't work anymore and he figured he didn't need to connect it.

It does look like there is a rubber cap over the one inlet.

Nice, thanks alot! the cc in my other Ford doesn't look anything like that.
Yes, he is a mechanic. And yes, he's definitely sloppy.

But why go through the trouble of pulling the hose and capping it off? If it doesn't work, then it's not like you are gaining anything by capping it off.

Well, I went out and hooked it up.
I'll have to wait to see if the cc works.
I need 2 tires BAD.
Anyone have any tires for sale CHEAP?
Plus I need to register/insure it.

Don't read too much into us guessing what the previous owner was thinking, mechanic or not. You should ask him, if you know him. One possibility is, the hose blew off, he either got tired of it happening over and over, or he didn't realize that hose was the problem, so he decided to cap the vacuum leak.

You're from NE, and as far as I know, that's what our trucks look like after driving around here. The road salts are terrible, not only causing rust, but pitting the aluminum components as well. If you get behind a sander (and good luck NOT finding one), it's game over. I for one don't have time to clean out the engine bay after every storm.

As for your tires, you'd be amazed at what you can find at junk yards. Also, my Explorer may be DOA (tranny issue today), my tires are fairly new. I'll keep you in mind if I have to part it out.

Mike

looking at the pic's,I would give some attention to the brake lines at the master and at the rest of the car, looks like he's up north..
