At the junction in the Y-pipe just in front of the catalytic converter.

no it is near the catylic converter. lol

Its right after the y-pipe comes together, and right before the cat, the plug looking thing with the wire coming out.

I know i'm being and idiot (no really I know it) is this under the vehicle, I crawled all
around under there last night and couldn't find anything.........really embarrassed...

It is on the engine side. The two exhaust manifolds come down from either side of the engine and run towards the rear of the vehicle. The two pipes run together to create the Y-pipe. The first object you reach is the catalitic converter.

O2 sensor location

Its just forward of the cat, but its hard to see because its on the top side of the pipe in a tight spot between the frame rail and the cat heat shield.

To get it out I used a special O2 sensor/oil pressure sensor removal socket and a big ratchet with an articulated knucke.

To disconnect the wire, you have to reach way up by the engine to get at the connector. I used a long screwdriver to pry on the connector retaining clip, and then pulled the connector down.

stand next to passanger door at junction of fender and door. Lie down under truck at same location with head under the transmission, looking up and towards junction of door and fender that you were previously standing infront of. Find thingy sticking out of metal pipe, get 7/8? wrench and remove.

:D

I found it!! Thank you everyone. Couple more questions. 1. Do i need to disconnect
the battery before I change this. 2. It appears the sensor has reverse thredding, am I correct in this? Also, long arms would be handy disconnecting and reconnecting the
sensor!

I dont think it has left hand thread, should be normal. Mine was. No need to disconnect battery either.

It is right hand thread. You just need a tool to get in there with enough leverage. I used a big 1/2 ratchet wrench that has an articulated wrist, so that I could angle the handle down to clear the pipes.

When you replace it be sure to but some anti-seize grease on the threads.

Yes, it is a stretch to reach the connector. I used two hands: one hand with a long screwdriver to push up on the connector retaining clip to release it and the other hand to pull on the cable. It usually takes me several tries to get it.

I have long arms, but maybe you can do it without, I have changed mine in both X's by going through the engine bay, just unthread it from underneath, then push the wire upward to get location, then reach behind the block from the top and pull the whole thing up, watch for tangles. Then you can unplug and plug the new one with ease. Then just drop it back down, but make sure you lower it back in the same place it came from. Worked for me, I dont know how you are supposed to reach up that high from underneath.

With my body lift I just reached inside the fender well and there it was! :D

Works the same for sparkplugs as well, very easy to access with body lift.
