Hi guys. I have a '93 and just found this grounding/bonding strap attached to the passenger fender and nothing else. What is the other end supposed to be connected to?

Most likely the hood. There is usually a grounding strap between the hood and the body.

yup, looks like the hood grounding strap.

Im with Jeff ,thats what mine does .

yep thats what it is the hood grounding strap.

Mine always falls off, so it must not be that important. It just makes the hood grounded.

This is probably a dumb question, but:

Why?

It is prolly just a STATIC thing............not a big deal.

I think it has something to do with corrosion. The hood will corrode due to electrolosis or something. My high school mechanics teacher told us once, but I forget now, Doh!!

Oh, OK. Cool, thanks

Or it might be to ground the hood for the light that is attatched to the underside of my hood...that would need a ground no?

Nah, that is grounded on the left side of the engine compartment

correct me if i am wrong, but isn't electrolosis the thing that doctors do to remove unwanted hair???:D

if that strap is to control static...do the doors of vehicles have the same thing? i get a shock every time i get out of my girlfriends civic. i always though it was her floormats sliding around causing static. maybe a ground strap is broken?

Electrolysis just means a process using electricity. As far as getting shocked when getting out of your girlfriends Civic - serves you right. Stay out of those things and drive your girfriend around in your EX.:D
