Yeah, but the pipes are sticking out maybe an inch from the side fender. I think what they're talking about is ending the pipe right before the axle UNDER the truck. So instead of side exhaust, it's an "internal", under the car exhaust.

BTW, looks great man!!! I love the way the pipe ended on the side. You guys need to stop giving me ideas because I'm soooo dead broke!!!

its only illegal if it exits befor the inside passanger cabin ends. thatrs why you see it on vipers and vets and lightnings cause ther cabins are small and the pipes come out after it.

I think '96explorereddiebauer nailed it. It's illegal to dump the exhaust under the chassis if before the end of the passenger compartment. I misunderstood the earlier posts to mean side exit exhaust, which is obviously not the same.

99redXsport - sorry to disagree with you, but there are too many production vehicles out there that contradict your statement. Mercedes SLR exits in front of the passenger cabin. Mustangs with side exhaust exit in front of the rear wheels, well before the end of the passenger cabin (okay - not production, but readily available from a dealer or tuner like Saleen or Rousch). I think this is true for Shelby Cobras, Cunningham C4's and a number of other such cars as well.

None of this answers the original question, so I'll retract my original assertion.

Regards,
John.

I say a nice chrome pipe out the driver's side fender and up the pillar to vent over the roof would be nice, then you could set up a snorkle the same way on the other side, it would look nicely symetrical... though it might hamper visibility
