I have a 99 XLT v8 and love it to death. My question is, I bought it used and I'm assuming the stock shocks are still on it. Recently, the ride has become VERY rough (I swear I can fell it when I roll over a dime). Anyway, I don't know much about vehicles but are replacing the shocks my best option for trying to get a better ride?

If so, what brand would you recommend? Or, is there anything else I should consider in trying to improve the ride?

Thanks in advance.

If you're budget is low than Gabriel VSTs would be good. Moving up in price, Bilstein and Rancho are good, I'd go with Rancho 9000s for adjustability.

BTW, welcome!

kyb and tokico make great suv shocks, try to stay away from non-gas charged shocks....

Shocks

Blisteins, da best.

I love my Monroe Reflex shocks, they smoothed out the ride considerably over stock and greatly reduced brake dive.
