I am trying to find a new set of leaf springs for my '99 explorer xlt. I bought it around a month ago, and the rear end sags. In the future i am going to be putting on some 31" tires, and i want it to be level. I really don't like the look of the shackles, so i was wondering if i could just get some new leaf springs that may be stronger than the original. I read that some people are using the F-150 leaf springs. If that is recommended, which ones?

I would appreciate it if anyone has bought new leaf springs online for a '99 to mention where they got them. I cannot find them anywhere.

Thanks for your help.

You can get them from Ford. You will need to tell them the spring code that is on the drivers side front door. They will run you about $500 for the pair.

Another place to check is a local leaf spring shop if you have one. They can make the springs from scratch.

JCWhitney also sells stock replacement spring kits for a little cheaper than the dealer.

Or try the F150 upgrade if you want heavier duty. It replaces all the leaves except the main one. You can get the leaf kit from Detroit Eaton Springs for around $300, or a junkyard if you want cheaper used parts.

I also agree with checking local spring shops...their pricing may be better and they'll probably have more options for you. Eaton just happens to be local to me, so I used them.
