2001 Sport Trac
So on a trip last weekend the rear window on my 2001 sport trac stopped working. I had a chance to look at it tonight. Before I did anything I ran the reinitialization procedure. I ran it a handful of times. Everytime I got to the full up part I would hear the motor click and then nothing.

So I pulled off the back cover and ran the electrical diagnosis posted here, that is from the fordtechservice website. Passed all the steps until the ground check. Far left pin was 4ohm(within spec) far right was 7ohm. Out of spec, but close.

Anyways I pulled out the motor and used a body tool to turn the window gear. Wow was it tight and hard to turn. I pulled out the drum with wire and pumped some red synthetic grease all over. Made a day and night difference in hand turning. I know ground spec was out, but with how hard the window was to move I have doubts on the motor.

Where do these ground wires run?
Where can I get the window motor? I looked online but never saw a rear window motor listed. Is this a dealer/junkyard part?

i actually found that after much searching on ebay for slightly more from the same company, I guess I will be sending them the link. wow direct from them they want 13.75 for shipping so ebay price and website price is pretty much the same.

what did you google to find it, i tried sport trac rear window motor and only came up with rear door motors. Rock auto/autozone didn't have it listed. I eventually just searched ebay for sport trac and scrolled through the pages. I did find a refurb from jegs for around $80 also in the listing in addition to the AAAA listing, which looks like it might be a regular product.

Have you guys bought the motor from this place? Is it a reliable source?

Re: Motor

I haven't bought anything from them as of yet cause it is to dam cold to work on the truck but you can't beat the price. I would give it a shot.

FYI.

So I pulled off the back cover and ran the electrical diagnosis posted here, that is from the fordtechservice website. Passed all the steps until the ground check.

Where do these ground wires run?

The ground wires are the "control" wires & run to the dash switch. G204 grounds to the floor under the left side of the console just below the RCM. G300 grounds to the left cowl side panel behind the kick panel and the parking brake mechanism. Check all of your connectors for corrosion. On my '01 there is a connector under the floor mat on the passenger side rear, below the rt.rr. passenger seat. I's suspect you may find something there. G300 is a main cab ground and if it was bad you'd have all kinds of crazy stuff going on.

Binding windows and rusty cables cause more problems than the motor itself. If the mechanicals of the window doesn't operate smoothly the motor will stop itself.

i never needed the ground after completeing the ford tests i just pulled the cover off and found the motor was weak. My cables were not rusty or bound, but they did need grease. I took the time and greased everywhere i could as the cables live in the exposed environment.

The new motor is quite a bit louder and about 2x faster then the old one. I am not sure if it is due to me greasing the **** out of all the cabling? I used enough red synthetic I could pull the window up and down with my finger tips. The position relearn procedure was also very easy to do. These motors just seem to fail, this is motor number 3 in 130k, the last one was replaced under warranty.
