I'm curious to know where you guys have installed amplifiers? i have a subwoofer amp about 11 inches by 9 inchess that will be for a q-logic stealth sub. the whole point is to save space and leave components hidden, so i'd love to do the same with my amp. i was thinking about perhaps strapping it to the underside of one of my rear 60/40 split seats. It's a class d amp so heat and ventilation isn't too huge an issue as long as air can get to it. any clever suggestions? I have a '99 4-door, power seats, and premium audio package with the cd changer in the console if that helps.

thanks a ton! :)

My amp is mounted under the passengers side rear seat, It is hidden from view.

I have 2 AMP's under my rear seat. They are mounted to the floor and are big enough to see (doesn't look too bad, but not too good either). Now I can't fold my seats flat for cargo (not that I ever do) I am trying to figure out how to mount them under the rear panel where the factory amp was (problem is going to be air flow).

I wouldn't put them under the rear seat if you are concerned about looks.

I have 2 amps mounted behind the rear cargo moulding (above and next to the rear passenger side wheel well ~ in the location of the factory amp) and I have a Sport... with a 4 door you could mount all sorts of stuff there

Mine are hung by straps behind the rear speaker pods:

That's true, Hokie, I could...except that's where my stealth box will be. ;) BlackMagic: I don't see your amp, am i missing something? I also don't have a sport so my rear quarter panel actually has less space than yours, i believe. under the seats on the floor may work, but may not. what i'm saying is that if i mount it fully behind the footspace, the back of the seat won't go down all the way, i believe. If i mount it so the seat will go down, it can easily be seen and be in the way of passengers' feet. it's beautiful out now though, so i'm gonna go ponder my strategy some more.

thanks guys! :)

hey cool!i have one little truck under my name!

i actually had that off yesterday, but mostly scouting for that sub location. i'll have to go look again since i hadn't thought of that metal strapping idea...how is that done?

on a slightly related topic...does anyone know what size socket i should use to take of that stupid hook on the trim above the rear passenger-side door? i even tried my 6mm and 1/4" dinky sockets and they couldn't even fit inside the hole!! what the heck was ford thinking on this one? i may try strapping it under my seat, still, since after double and triple checking, mounting to the floor won't work. thanks again, guys!

Is it a Q Form box? If it is, you can fit it and an amp behind the cargo panel.. theres a **** ton of room back there... I have 2 amps and a 1 Farad cap behind mine and thats with the short wheel base Sport.

hey man go to best buy and get one of there installer screwdriver sets it will do allmost any job needed for interer work or install. i got my hands on one :D from a friend best tool ever for any install .

i have the Q box and its cool that it stors away but the sound sucks. i have a RF punch 10" and you can bely hear it . i would spend all that money on a good box insted if i had to do it again. :redexp:

Hmm.. Why do you think that the 10" doesn't sound good in that spot.. I would think it would..

I am trying to figure out where to put two amps right now. One will run the 10" and the other will run the fronts and mids.

ive got a stealth box, and my amp is under the passenger side of the back seat too. as far as the coat hanger hook thing, i believe its a metric size. i had trouble with that too, nothing would fit so i started to drill out that hole when i discovered that i was just using the wrong size socket

yeah i agree it's metric...almost everything under a half-inch is metric. what i'm saying is that my little 6mm socket won't even squeez into the hole to grip the screw!

You could always take out your washer bottle on the other side and put it in next to the jack. If u really need a washer bottle a trip to the junk yard could get get you one small enough to fit with the amp.

Hey Curtis putting your amp there seems like a great idea, I think I may do that this weekend.

A question on a different level...do any of you guys running one 10" really like how much bass you have, if it is all the way in the back? I just cant see going to a 10" even if it was the greatest made, with the same power of a 12. I know this is an eternal argument, but I would actually like to get rid of my 12 because it takes up too much space..i had 2 though so I am compromising. But a 10? If i could save space AND have a lot of low end, I would do it, but can it be done?

i'm still wondering how much room is between the quarter panel back there and a mounted q-custom sub enclosure...
