I am going to put seafoam motor cleaner into my truck. I have a 99 SOHC and was wondering what is the best place to put it. I've read here that the vacuum line is good but where exactly is that? I also bought the deep creep can I use these at the same time?

i was told the break booster line was the best way but i could not get it off so i just pulled another hose off and it worked the same.

yeah i would like to know cause i went to autozone today and for the first time after asking if they had it for a month they got it in so i just dont want to screw anything up

DO NOT USE THE BRAKE BOOSTER LINE

DO NOT USE THE BRAKE BOOSTER LINE

DO NOT USE THE BRAKE BOOSTER LINE

Use a vacuum line on the THROTTLE BODY.

Brake booster line. Disconnect it from the booster and let it take sips of the Seafoam.

anyone on the thorttle body?

I've used the brake booster line too and it worked fine. But I'm also curious...Spdrcer34, what's wrong with using the brake booster line?

Apparently the throttle body vacuum line gets it to all cylinders.

When you use the Brake Booster line, the direction of the airflow/vacuum dictates that the seafoam WILL NOT get to the forward cylinders.

You will have a few clean cylinders and a few dirty ones. Not good for a few reasons. The MAIN problem would be more pinging under load in those 'dirty' cylinders, but more power in the clean ones

Put it in the throttle body (butterfly) I did it last weekend. I unbolted the intake, unplugged the MAF (you can fry it if you don't) and used a clear squeeze bottle with a tapered tip, the kind they use for ketchup or oil in restaurants ($.80 Walmart) With the engine revved up slightly I squeezed the content in. Worked like a charm.

Wow!! I'm surprised that no one said PCV valve. That's a perfect place for sucking that stuff in. Even the can said the PCV valve.

96explorer, it's because PCV will also feed only the rear cylinders, same as brake booster. Brake booster way is also easier than PCV

I've never heard of this stuff. When do you use it? I have a '97 5.0 with over 90k. I don't have any pings or problems, now that i replaced the plug wires :-)

Is it good maintenance? Does it improve milage or power?

Do a search. There are gazillions of threads on the subject.

I used the brake booster. I didn't see much of a difference on my X. A little smoke but not the smoke out others reported. Maybe I did only get the 2 rear cylinders? I used the whole can too. So where on the TB is this vacuume line?

it just gets rid of all unwanted carbon build up. i would have to say it is good maintenance. i dont think unless you have and extreme amount of carbon buildup that it would improve mileage or power
