which 4.0 do i have?

I must be doing a poor job of finding the info. on the web so i'll ask it here. I have an x listed in the space on the vin for the engine code of my 1999 explorer sport. According to that can anyone say if it is the ohv or the sohc 4.0. Thanks.

Lift the hood and look at the top of the engine. Does it show "SOHC" or "EFI?"

What Robb said. The SOHC 4.0 has a huge "SOHC" listed on the black engine cover. You can't miss it. If you can't see it, you're got the OHV engine.
