Which 6x8 Floats Your Boat?

Well, I really need new speakers and I was wondering what you guys think. I have noticed that many people have the Pioneers but I really like Kenwood's reputaion. So what do you think?

personal preferance

listen to different systems. see what you think sounds good and go by that.

i only have my 6X8s to fill in the midrange. my components and subs are what you really hear in my system. if you go for kenwood though, you should get the excelon series. the regular kenwoods are disappointing from my experiences.

like i said before, it's a matter of what you like.

Aren't too many 6x8s around anyway. Pioneer is one of the few that makes 'em. You can also fit the 5x7s, not to be nitpicky, some folks just don't realize. Just in case you needed the heads up. Definitely, go for what you like and what fits your pocket book. Just remember that what you're hearing on the demo wall is right at your ear level, but when it's time to install, they'll be at your knees. It's an educated guess at best.

Kenwoods are great. Two others come to mind too...Infinity with it's 'plus1' woofer, great mid bass and highs...and Pioneer...brighter highs less bass.

I think I'm going to go with the Pioneers because they are better for the highs. I plan on getting a sub (or two...or three) so I'm not really worried about the bass.

Nothing yet. I should have my new deck (Kenwood
kDC-V7017) within a few weeks. Speakers very soon too. Undecided with the subs though. Not sure if MTX or Audiobahn is what i want. I'll keep ya posted!

i really suggest you go with the audiobahn subs.
much better than mtx. for what you spend on mtx, you will hit much higher dbs with audiobahn and better sq too.

As you can see, I have both the Pioneers and the Audiobahn....VERY happy with both. The Audiobahn subs and amps have been a GREAT surprise (bought them on the advice of a local shop owner) I recommend them to EVERYONE!

I think that I am really leaning towrd the pioneers and the audiobahn subs. Now all I need is the money and I am set (only $400 away from the entire system). And besides, I'm a kid so I have a hard time getting the funds, I'm sure you guys understand!

I put in the pioneers, the ones with the higher up (more expensive tweeter) they sound really sweet, pretty decent bass response too, I wonder if the compression horn ones are any good. Anyway, I used to just use mine for the bass, but then I got an MTX thunderform thing (hehe 200 including the sub, eat your heart out) with a 200W rms amp running to it, the sound is PERFECT, I have a sport, and the sub mixes perfectly with everything else, and my head unit is cool b/c it has separate controls for the sub level so I can kill it when someone is sitting in the back (the sound travels straight up the back seats)
