This exhaust came with the truck when I got it, and I absolutely LOVE the sound of it. Can anyone tell by looking at it which brand it is? It doesnt have a name on it anywhere. Thanks!

look at the size of that clunker

definatly ford

its probably got rust in the right spots, thats why it sounds nice

if you get a flowmaster 40 series muffler you will be more than happy

Wow, really? I've driven other explorers of the same generation, and they sound NOTHING like this on. This sounds like a V8...not overly loud, just like real throaty. I NEVER would have expected it to be stock. Weird.

Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate on what to expect to pay for an aftermarket cat-back system?

Thanks guys.

did it fall off?

Well, it broke off (rotted) right at the flange that attaches to the cat. The muffler itself still seems fine.

If you want a lot of sound get a Flowmaster 40 series, but this is prolly gonna be pretty excessive. I bought the Flowmaster Delta 40 series and it sounds just perfect. Cost me 70 bucks at Overchargers (Ramchargers).

I just used some muffler clamps to piece it together with my stock exhaust, we left enough lip on the end of the muffler so we could weld it later. It's been a while so don't quote me, but I believe the standard Delta 40 series is a 2.5" pipe and the V6 comes with a 2 1/4" or 2", so I have a few clamps adapting it to fit but it was cheaper than a full cat back and I have recieved sooo many compliments about how she sounds. The delta 40 series has been designed to allow a little less resonance into the cabin of the truck, leaving you with a nice, not too loud purrrrr.

Stock Ford Muffler...lol

that is a stock muffler... the 40 series is loud, i loved mine, however it did produce a lot of in cab resonanace... if you still want it to sound good and dont wnat the interior resonance, get the 40 delta or athe 50 series....

not sure if its availbe for the sport, however flowmaster makes a catback kit for the explorer called force II that is supposed t obe pretty good

When I was looking for a cat-back that kit didn't come with any 40 series...So I just bought the muffler.

he force II kit comes with a 50 delta i beleive... out of everyone i have heard of having it they either say its perfect or not loud enough for them..... but they all agree on it sound great......

and noise level is a personal preference..... i ran just a cat no muffler on my toyota for awhile i loved the sound, but it routinely woke up neighbors on the other side of the park near my house... a good 1/4 mile away.....

hahaha...wow

? they arent that big... hell of a lot smaller then stock

I have a flow through tractor muffler on mine...sounds throatier than a stocker :D

I'm now on my third Flowmaster system (had 2 on my 91 and I just put one on my 97 Sport) They really are great--I have no complaints:)

nice grass btw :p

When running a 40 series make sure you have a tail pipe.cuss if u run just muffler you will be MAD drone, but with a tail pipe it will be Queitr on the freeway,

ohc nothing bigger than 2.25
sohc 2.50

I bought the Force II kit, it was too quiet for my liking so I've cut off the pipe that runs to the back and bent a tube pointing down at the ground, now it has a deep throaty sound. Lots of people have asked me if I'm running a 5.0L :D
