Which Oil Filter?????

I just bought a 2001 Explorer Sport 4.0L SOHC engine. I was a little confused on which Filter to select.

I have 2 other Explorers both 1999's and always used the FL-1A filter but for the 2001 there was either the FL-1A or the FL-820S

I went to the Motorcraft and gave my VIN # and it came up with both filters???

The vehicle was built in Feb. 2000

I have the FL-1A installed now.....Am I OK with it???????????????

use a good purilator or motocraft filter

the only difference I have seen in those two filters is the FL-1A is longer

in my 5.0 I use FL-820S because its a tight fit

u need the longer one, one is standard one is metric the longer one fits our 01 sports get a K&N there only 10 bucks

I'm using the old FL-1A which is longer then the FL-820S

BTW the vehicle had the FL-820S installed when I bought it.......


Which is correct and what is the difference?????
