I am trying to decide on a scan-tool to buy. AutoXray 6000, Snap-On MT 2500, and OTC Nemisys 3774. I currently own a '96 XLT 4.0, AT w/2wd. I would like to use the scan-tool for newer model vehicles also. Please voice all opinions.

How about this: I am not sure if it works for the 4.0

I just picked that up for my '96 5.0. You can change the engine displacement (from 1.x liters to 6.x i think), and it's a great tool. It may sound stupid, but I keep my scanguage mounted on my dashboard above my speedo b/c it's easier to look at the S.G. than my gauges (it acts as a second set of gauges).

We use a few snap-on scanners in our shop. Not exactly sure of the numbers, but we use "The Brick" (looks similar to a brick) and the Modious. The modious can do all and everything you can throw at it. Just you have to make sure you have all the updates and stuff. Snap-on scanners are expensive and the updates and other tools for the scanners aren't cheap either. They are easy to use and work well. The modious can graph out all types of things. Good luck on a purchase!

I have been very happy with my Auto X Ray scanner.

Good bang for the buck

It is a great deal but provides very little useful information.
I get the most use from the trip programs.

Useful scan tools are costly.
