i have everything stock. i like the receiver the way it is, but am looking to upgrade the speakers. i want them to "bump" descently without distorting the mids or highs like almost all of the speakers do out there. i don't plan on getting a sub, so i just am looking for the 4 speakers to upgrade. any suggestions? thanks.

get the pioneer 3-way 6 by 9s that run about 100 dollars.

I have Rockford Fosgate 2 ways all around with 2 10"s. I'd suggest RF 3 ways up front and 2 ways behind.

since you dont plan on getting a subwoofer, and you are running them off the headunit, and you want them to "bump," i dont think you should get the pioneer 6X8s. i have them in my doors. they are decent speakers, but they are very bright. they aren't very good with midbass response. and they sound better with more power.

i recommend the Polk DX7s. they are very efficient, and have awesome midbass for 5X7s. they sound really good, even when powered by just a headunit.

hey do 6"X9" fit in the 97 explorers? or only 6"X8"? thanks.

6X8 fits in the stock locations. you could modify it so 6X9s will fit.

heh now what do i got to do to modify it so 6X9 will fit? trimming plastic, or what?
