What I have is an Alpine CDA-9883 head unit with a Profile AP 1200 amp and am looking for two 10" subs to get for around $150-200, i want good sound but volume as well. I was going to ger MAW-10's (http://www.mach5audio.com/product_i...id=42&osCsid=a46a9a2e6c54d15d937171c76d02db5d) but apparently they dont make them any more. I was looking now at RSDs, Type Rs, CVRs, and Pioneer premiers some of them are kind more then i wanted to spend, but if they would be that much better i may be willing to spend a little more.

I know some people don't like posts like this asking which is the best to get, but i really have no experience trying out different options. So any help is appreciated.
thanks

Well lets start with this.

What kind of music do you listen to?? What kind of bass response are you after??

Are you willing to build your own enclosure??

You can still get Mach 5 products, and on your budget, I doubt you'll find anything better (unless PE has a sale on the Dayton drivers, then you have a contest). Mach5 sells through www.soundsolutionsaudio.com

soundsoultions are out of those subs and said they wont be getting any more for what seems like a long time, and i would think probably wont get them ever since there discontinued.
I listen to really all different kinds of music, from rock, punk, rap. I don't know what you mean by bass response, but i want something that has a good sound/tone to it as well as decent volume.
The alpine type r's here (http://cgi.ebay.com/2-ALPINE-SWR-10...oryZ3291QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) wouldn't be much more then I wanted to spend, its would be like 225 shipped for two. These are what I'm leaning towards now, unless anyone has any better options for me.
I am planning on building my own enclosure which i actually posted in another thread but im planning on making a box like justin146 showed in the pics of sub boxs topic ( http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...1&d=1134359065 ) except with only two 10's instead of four. I still want it to go the with of the car bu just have like two storage area type things were ill put the amp on one side and idk what on the other. the height would be like 15.5" and would want depth to be a small as would work with the 10's. I drew a really crappy picture of what i plan if it helps at all.

Thanks again for the help
-Matt

I got one 12 inch Type R with 1000 watts about as loud as my friend with two 12's and 2200 watts.

Two 10 inch Type R's in the right box is pretty loud...have you thought about upgrading the door speakers and adding an amp for them??

One 10 inch type r should be just fine if you want some decent bass that sounds good and smooth

2 of those in 1.5 cubes (total) tuned to 30hz would be a nice system for music, and they get LOW. I bet Nam could design a nice enclosure for them.
The Kicker CVX's can be found at a good price, too, so don't dismiss them, and they can take a beating.
If you can build a ported enclosure, the Type R's are decent, and get stupid loud. I do not like them sealed, though- they're too constrained.

i think the look of kicker subs look kinda cheesy plastic so id rather not get them.
Are the daytons better then the R's are? they would cost more then the r's. I do want to do a ported box I like how they sound better.

Yo where do u live on LI, i know a bunch of places. Audio Planet sells real low priced **** sometimes, just gotta make sure u have someone else install, they have a terrible rep for that. Just go to some shops and ask about specials and let them know u know ur **** about speakers and not to b.s. w/ u. thats what i did and scored my JBL's that are awesome.

I live in Nesconset (smithtown) and im gonna install them myself so don't have to worry about that. Where is audio planet?

The Daytons would probably have better sound quality than the Type R's.

I do love Type Rs though...very good subwoofer for the money. All around good performer

I have a pair of 15" Type Rs and they get VERY loud and actually sound a lot better than I thought they would for all types of music. A lot of research went into that hammered/crinkled surround to allow the cone to stay linear for better sound quality when you are pounding on them. A lot of subs out there that get as loud won't sound as good. You can get louder, or sound better, but the Rs do really well in both departments, especially for the price.

I have a pair of Kenwood 12 inch dual voice coil subs in small boxes,, with a 900 watt Kenwood Amp, it is hooked up to a kenwood deck with sub outputs,, and selectable crossovers, it rocks, , is loud enuff for me, and can be heard a fair bit away from the vehicle if i want it to,,and vibates the windsheild pretty good,

there is not really much need for 500 watts of real power, think of it as this,,
How fast do you want the neighbourhood kids to hear it, and maybe come and steal it, but still have good sound,, ,

i don't have that kind of trouble,, but i live in the middle of nowhere,,

I have one (pretty shot) 12" type R running off just one channel of the amp in there now thats my friends old one and it sounds good for me I just want the 10's because I can do a smaller cleaner setup and with the two new 10's it will sound better and louder then the one that I have in there now. So I think tonight or tomorrow I may order those unless someone has a good reason not to and a better option. And who is "Nam" and would he be able to give me dimesions for these subs, preferably ported?
-Matt

Audio Planet is on Jericho, it technically in Huntington I believe (which is where i live). If your coming towards Hton from Smithtown it'd b on ur left about a mile or 2 b4 RT110 which is what the mall is on. Mapquest it prob no more than 30 min drive in my guess

My name is Nam.

I have a thread about free enclosure designs...right now I'm a little busy with school and stuff so I haven't been able to catch up...by friday I should start back up with designs

Hi Nam, I had already posted in your other thread. But take your time, I know school comes first and I don't even have the subs yet so i have time before i need an enclosure.
