Hello guys - I have a 2000 Explorer 4.0 95K which has been awesome and very well maintained... I love the truck.
However, there has been a whining sound that is coming from the rear to middle of the truck and has increased in volume over the past three weeks. It really sounds like it's in the drivetrain somewhere -
The sound gradually gets louder as I go faster, starts at around 30mph.
I do not drive off road or anything crazy - just to and from work which is mainly highway. I have had the transfer case fluids (middle and rear) checked and replaced and it is still noisy. ANY IDEA what could be wrong? Or am I just screwed?
Thanks for any assistance you have - look forward to hearing something!
