Hello Forum Members:
For the last couple of years now, my 2000 XLT has been making a mysterious noise. The noise comes from the engine compartment and sounds like a whining drone. It only makes the noise when the outdoor temperatures are cold, that is 35 degrees or less. In the warmer months, there is no noise at all. The noise occurs whether the engine is warm or cold, it makes no difference - it's only ambient temperature that matters. While I'm at idle, the noise goes away when I rev the engine. Any ideas? This is driving me crazy! Thank you.
