I know its not something to be proud of, but I am pretty sure I have the rustiest X around. I will probably fix the rockers this spring, and I have a rust free lift gate sitting in the garage, just waiting for the salt to clear before installing it...Well if yours is rustier than mine, I would like to see it!

Damm you to hell!!!:frustrate
You should move east to the rust belt and get some:D
I hate rust

My brother picked a 92 sport last october from a women who put a lift and tires on it and then just let it set for 3 years. Now we get our share of snow and rain here in WV, and everything, i mean everything under the truck was rusted. We've had to replace brakes line, fuel lines, throw out bear was just a huge rust bearing, pressure plate and disk were awful looking. Letting a vehicle sit and hold the mositure under isn't a good thing!

rust?

whats rust? O' that stuff that comes when metal gets wet, like rain or snow.

WAIT......

Whats Rain or Snow?

i live in phoenix.. the only time something metal gets rusty here is when the sprinklers hit it.. however my buddy in minisota has a 92x and i swear the windows are rusty along with the whol truck.. the bottom of his block is rusty. hell his rims are rusy.

lol

Well I don't feel bad about my rust anymore.
Just under the rear doors

I have never seen rust like these trucks

someone must have parked a lot of them in a 3 foot creek for 5 years, then in the salty air of the eastern seaboard. Just get some cans of spray paint and get under the truck and go to town :) where a paper mask so you don't have to directly paint the inside of your lungs. least it will look good for a while:confused:

You win! I thought ours was bad, typical rocker panel rot out as well as rear bottom edges of wheel wells. Notice Ford got clever and added plastic panels to hide the rocker panels on later Explorers. Notice though all the older ones up here with rot coming through behind the trim.

We also have the horizontal panel delamination trick on the hood and roof. Thankfully in the winter the white patches just look like a bad case of salt encrustation....

Guess using Rust Check on and off really did help.

Kevin

Just a couple of spots of rust around the front bumper here.

However, rust ON the bumper is becoming an issue. I should get around to fixing that soon...

Man i left my truck for about a year (or one winter) in 3 feet of snow, our sending unit was leaking so we didnt use it, damn was that a great regret. The leaking pressurized fuel would spray all on the back of the truck and would cause it to rust easier.

everywere under i look, theres rust, but at least the body has almost none

Good News!!

Finnaly the snow is almost gone, and im already out clearing up rust and getting ready to repaint.

I'm going to use yellow for very small parts, silver for other somewhat small parts (sway bars, shocks) and black for the rest.

Hopefully i will get some pics up of it!

RUST BEWARE, YOUR IN FOR A SCARE!!!!!!

Every one that has posted so far is a rusty 1st gen... but i've got a 97' thats rusting

My factory chrome rims are rusting out of control :( BTW i spend summers down at the Cape (EDIT: Cape Cod, MA) and our house is on the water, so my X gets blasted by salt air for about 3 months straight... not good at all for... well... anything...

On yee, painting at last!

Finnaly, i got to it, weathers getting nice out, so i decided to use up the rest of the rubberized paint. Im painting stuff thats big, like the frame, black, and shocks and medium sized things silver, and then yellow for the smaller small things (steering rods, sway bars, metal lines, etc.
