MY .02
My tires are slightly larger than stock for info...
MY speedo said 110mph. My roommate's (that i was racing) speedo said 120. I was neck and neck w/ him. He drove a 4cylinder accord. Not riced, just intake.
Honestly, it was stable. Unbelievebly stable... especially for an SUV. And i have TT/ shackles...

No it doesnt, but it sure is fun to hear about!!! lol. God that would be oso fun to ride around in. I mean there would be soooo many unsuspecting people getting pissed off by that truck it would be unbelieveable! Cept in Miami where everyone seems to know about it anyways. lol. Hey Dan I even talked to some Lightning owner from up here in Mississippi that has heard of that thing. lol. He said some people told him before he took his L to the track down there to be wary of a tan explorer running slicks. lol. Talk about a street rep.

This post is also off topic.
blk mk8,
Any info on that 5.0 Miata? I was curious as to what kind of 1/4 mile you have run with it?

With 295 hp to the back tire and 2800 pounds I do belive it should go mid to low 12's with slicks. We are buying a set of slicks and rims for it this week, now that we put $2000 dollar 300m axles in it for 750hp. We should have some times with it after chrismass we will keep you posted. rocket change your sig to say lentech 4R70W because you will have a 4.6 trans, AOD-E is for the 4R70W that had 5.0 bellhousings.

Oh ok. I didnt know that. I thought that all the 4R70W trannies that bolted to the 5.0 and to the 4.6 were all in the AOD-E classification.
Hey Bill, by the way how is that T76 treating ya? Did ya get the Vortech sold yet?

Probably a silly question, but what exactly would keep a supercharger made for the 5.0 from being squeezed on a 4.0? Wouldn't bolt up right? Belt not it right place? Too big?

God I am really surprised that one of these 5.0 guys isnt jumping all over this deal. I know that if I still had a 5.0 and didnt have a supercharger you better believe that I would be jumping alllll over that deal. Especially when it comes with all the powepiping and all that stuff??? You 5.0 guys are nuts for not taking advantage of this already!!! If I were you I would buy that charger off of him and then drop a 9 lb pulley on there for a stock bottom end 5.0 explorer and have a heyday!!! Awesome setup!

But doesnt a centrifugal charger compress the air and send it into the engine through the intake- i.e., not directly into the intake manifold? I can understand why a roots-type wouldnt work, but how wouldnt a centrifugal charger work? Maybe I just need to understand how a centrifugal supercharger works.

I've hit about 125 mph in mine. With the 4.10s the top end doesn't pull like 0-100. Also, how much is Dan sellin that setup for? Hmmm...charger or continue on with the 125-shot? Decisions Desicions...
Also, kinda off topic, but does ford make True Blue Explorers in any year? If not, then i was thinkin i may have the one and only. At least 2nd Gen...

Yeah you are right. as long as the bracketry exists a centrifugal charger will go onto virtually anything. But being that Troll's engine is a 302 block the bracketry is the exact same as for any of the 5.0 explorers out there. So it would be a drop in install for one of these 5.0 guys.

You hit 125 mph w/ 4.10 ratio? That seems strange to me. I figured that w/ that kind of ratio your get up and go would be quicker, but i thought that the top speed would be greatly reduced. Well maybe not greatly....but 125 mph....?

Yeah if I were you I would go with the charger at about 9 psi and then maybe every once in a while if I were at the track, I would give it a little 75 shot and have a little fun. A very good deal. Let alone that you would have a little piece of explorer race truck history.
Then maybe one of these days down the road just forge the bottom end of that engine with a stroker kit and run bout 13 or 14 psi through that puppy. Of course you will have to replace wheel studs and the tranny when you rip out of the hole with that much torque! But it is all in fun.
