I'm trying to find a rack that will bolt to the top of my 97 explorer to hold my wakeboard. I saw an explorer driving around last weekend with one, it looked like it attached right to the stock rack that is on top of all explorers. Anyone know where I can get one of these?

You can use the same Yakima attachment for snow boards.

Hey, its awsome to see another wakeboarder on here. Where i live wakeboarding is starting to come around. Im only 1 of about 30 wakeboarders, that live within about and hour of me, that i know of. And i have only met a few of the 30, just heard about the other ones :-) anyways. IF you get the yakima, or yakima type roof racks, with the round poles, usually you can get them to the diameter you want. Find a rack for your boat, and instead of using the bowrail, or tower or what ever just buy the roof rack diameter and attach it there. Ive considered getting one myself but i live within walking distance to my boat, and haven't really needed one. But that would be the best way togo.
The only thing i would be conserned about is, if its for a long trip and yu make rest stops, theres nothing really keeping anyone from taking them off of the rack while ur eatin or what not. i know the ski racks n stuff lock down.

Dude! I wakeboard as well, here in CO.
I just got to the point where I can do a surface 180 consistantly and a 180 air sometimes. I have also been worknig in the wake grind.

Next is the air 360.......

For your roof rack the Yakima snowboard rack may work, depending on how much bow your wakeboard has in it.

The great thing about the Yakiima rack is the round bars, they allow you to fold your offroad lights back flat when you are not using them, and also to hold a wakeboard.

I used my Yakima rack to hold my wakeboard. I have a button down 4, which holds 4 sets of skiis, or 4 snowboards (top/bottom w/rad ready attachment).
I can hold my Hyperlite wakeboard because I am able to angle the snowboard rack to amtch the curve on the board, like this:

\ /

Meaning the front holder is bent forward and the rear is bent backwards just slightly, this way my board fits perfect upside down.

I'll take a picture next chance I get....

Cant do that with a stock luggage rack or Thule........

Let me know if anybody in CO wants to ride some Wake's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually this is the whole reason I have built up my BII, to tow my boat so I can go wakeboard........

Everything I do is so I can go wake/snow board.......

here's a crude diagram of what I'm talking aboutDead Link Removed Dead Link Removed

When I click on the link you provided for the wakeboard diagram, it doesn't work.
