Who's got the tallest first gen?

Who's got the tallest first gen on here and what did you do to get it so high? I want to get some serious height into mine. I was thinking about a 5.5 lift with a 3 inch body lift and then maybe the 2 inch suspension lift on top of that for a total of 10.5 inches of lift, but i wasnt sure if that would work combining 2 lift kits to get huge air. I already have the 3 inch body lift though. i was hoping i could fit maybe 44's under my truck. anyone else have 44's here?

No, a 5.5" suspension lift won't work with an additional 2" suspension lift. If you want that much lift, get the 8" Skyjacker lift and 3" body lift. Your front axles and suspension will never hold up tho. You can run 44s on your truck if you swap in rockwell axles. That's the only thing IMO that's gonna give you the strength to run them. Do some searching because there are a couple of trucks here with rockwells and 44s+.

Wouldnt the "2 inch suspension lift" kind of be part of the "5.5 lift" ?

not with spacers under the 5.5 springs....that be 7.5 lift...

Spacers under 5.5" lift are a no-no, it can be done but you will never get the alignment right. Along with that, a 5.5" sus 3" bl is what I used to have and it ran like a stuck pig. It was all over the place and scary to drive. Im now about 4" taller after my SAS and 3" increase in tire size, but taller isnt alywas better. Anyways, myself, IZ, BMX and chief are some of the biggest 1st gens I can think of.

Edit: IZ isnt a 1st gen. But its still a friggin big truck.

think with the drop down brackets for the 5.5, then get some 2.75 camber shims for the spacers, you could get it to align ? sounds like it would ?

well I ran a 5.5" shackles and f-150 spacers and a 3" bl for over three years, no alignment problems no handling problems, well nothing crazy anyway, drove it 500+ miles to Moab and back twice now I am running about roughly
8" suspension and the bl, with 36's not sure on exact roof line height but it is up there!

sn0border88 when you say 4 inches taller do you mean 4 inches taller than stock? or 4 inches taller than you were with the 5.5 lift and the 3 inch body lift?

4" taller than the 5.5 and 3" bl. Ask anyone who's seen it in person, its pretty big along with IZ's. The goal wasnt big, I have thought about dropping the body lift but it makes so much easier to work on.

Don't know if i'd be able to drive a monster truck on the street, but i sure would love to. all i'm really looking for is to feel short next to my truck and i'm a tall guy (6'4). I put the body lift on and knew i had to keep going higher and higher. It's so great not having to jack the truck up to do an oil change.

I think you need to analyze what exactly you plan on doing with the vehicle. As a few have already stated, taller isnt generally always better and it would be great for those who are providing input to know what exactly you intend to do with this vehicle. As you may already know, there are many ways to lift a vehicle - from mall crawler config to all out rock crawler and anything else in between. Most of the time, it all boils down to how much $$ you're willing to spend on it. So do let us know what your plans are so that we may better assist you.
