why are these plugs empty?

sorry that I post a lot of whats this or that, but here's another...

This is under right under the brake reservoir. They are disconnected and I cant find anything that they should be connected to. I looked in my service manual but it didn't label them. All it showed was that they were connected to something.

Next, this is under my left headlight. Another empty connection, there is one on the right side too. Is this for another headlight or something like that?

The wire harnesses used for these are fairly generic. Those plugs are for equipment yours lacks.

The two plugs under the headlights are for OEM fog lights that came stock on the Limited.

Not sure about the other one

question about those plugs for the fog lights. would they have run off a switch that it would lack aswell? Or are they auto on/off with the headlight? If so could you just wire up after markets to it?

If your truck lacks the fog lights, it lacks a small harness, switch and relay.

I cannot remember what those other two plugs are for.... It might not be for anything that a US spec Explorer came equipped with. Like I said, the harnesses are kinda generic.

My 91 is the same way. I'd be interested to see if you could wire up some fog or off road light to it.

In theory, you need to locate and install a switch and a relay. The switch goes under the rear window defrost and wiper switches. The relay is up behind the ashtray. You may need to add a fuse. The 94 uses position 15 under the hood.

The switch is probably going to be a junkyard ebay deal. The relay is the standard relay like all the others.

I like this idea, I just had to change a front headlight bulb and wondered what that empty socket was for. Fog lights are on my to do list.

Offroad lights are on my to do list. Next time I go to the junkyard I'll have to take a look at a 94 and see if I can't grab the switch and relay.

FYI, I cannot find these plugs on my 94. There is a larger connector vacant, and I'm thinking there is an optional front harness. Nothing a little solder and wire won't take care of.

The plug to the left on the top picture is for an automatic X manual transfer case harness.

So in that top picture, there are plugs 1-4 (left to right). So 1 (two grey wires) is for a manual tcase and two is for fog lights? Or do I have that all screwed up?

Not sure what the four wires are but the light blue and gray wires are for the transfer case.

I've been digging up old posts lately and I found this next to my battery some time ago. I was hoping someone would know what this is for?

It has a wall outlet plug but goes to something in the engine, and it is labeled with a T

Yep, that's a block heater cord. It should connect to one of the freeze plugs on the passenger side of the motor. The middle one I think by the motor mount, unless your motor has been changed.. or the heater started leaking and has been removed.

I have a block heater and no cord.... LOL
