Why did 94 have a weird offset (Wheels)

Is it just me or does the back of the 94 style X's, sit 1 inch more under the body in back then in the front? Its kinda pissing me off now that i noticed it. whats the deal? What was the original offset on these wheels? I have a 94' 2dr Sports

Dunno what the offset is, but the BS is 4.5".

maybe the fenders front to back are throwing you off? (rear wider?) or is the axle not as wide in the back? Ya know, like an optical illusion or something. The back spacing on the wheels should be the same.

On a stock 15x7 wheel, that would make the offset +1.0".

I dunno, when i look at it from the front..the rear axle seems shorter..thus the wheels look more tucked under in the back..the B.S of the wheel must be same, It just looks weird. I know it isnt just my explorer.

I was thinkin of gettin 1" spacer in back to see if itll make it look better. Either that or get some meats when i have enough money
