Why is the 97 SOHC a POS????

98 SOHC with no stalling here as well. The A/C has always cycled off and on during operation, even when it was brand new. I asked about it and was told that it's completely normal.

My girlfriends 97 XLT SOHC is pushing 193k miles and it runs fine, has a slight vacuum leak somewhere throwing a CEL light but it runs fine, idles fine, a/c fine.....it's getting to the point where it needs bearings or cv shafts which would be normal of a car the age and milage. Also it's damn near impossible to get her to spend any money on it maintence wise.

the cycling on and off was not the standard cycle. due to the IAC screwing up the idle and since the IAC was about dead everytime the a/c compressor would kick on it would drag the idle way down forceing the a/c to kick off and then back on and ect. The mom drove it for a while like that and ended up blowing up the compressor. So new compressor, i buy it off them, a new IAC and problem is fixed.
