Hey guys -- 2000 Ex, 4.0 OHV. 109,000 miles.

I just had a buddy of mine push the accelerator all the way down while I took a peek inside the upper intake. First off, I did notice that the throttle wasn't opening all the way (time for the throttle cable mod, it seems), and I also noticed a small pool of some kind of liquid in the back of the upper intake. I couldn't tell what it was because the intake is black plastic and makes everything look black.

Any ideas? Maybe oil from a bad PCV valve? Thanks!

liquid intake

well from what i know about this prolbem it could be your rings in the moter are getting bad if so that would spit oil back into the intake i had a jeep with the same prolbem i still drove it for lik ea year like that but it wasent my daily drive it was a mud truck i would get it looked at if i were you

The truck runs pretty good and doesn't smoke / consume a noticable amount of oil. Any other suggestions? Is it really my rings going bad?

I highly doubt its your rings going bad. more than likely the pcv valve, or the tube that goes from the intake to the oil filler is picking up a little bit of oil and sucking it up in the intake. Just clean everything once in awhile and replace the valve and you should be fine.

dont quote me but yes it could be basically there just getting bad just keep an eye on your air filter change it every so often use cheep one cause the oil will ruin them other then that you prolbey wont notice your iol level going down cause it will onley spit a very lil amount of oil enough to make you mad and wonder whats this going to cost me but you should get it checked out tho that how i figured out what cause it a jeep may differ from a ford so its up to you
