Ok, i've seen TONS of cars with colored neons... but I have YET to see a car with true black lights in them. I was thinking of sticking some in/under my explorer but I thought I would first find out why people havn't been using them before I tried them out. I thought maybe they didn't put out enough light, but wasn't sure.

I'm going to put one on my sub box when I build it...I imagine my Perfect's will look good in the black light. I haven't been able to find one that doesn't plug into the cigarette lighter though...

as far as I know, black lights are neither sold in more than 20" tubes, nor are visible except when on white or another color that lights up by it, and are not waterproof.

given, blacklights would look cool and be very original, but unless you can find a way to make them condition-proof to survive under a vehicle, I tjhink you'd just wind up blowing lots of money replacing them.

I've seen all kinds of weird stuff here, one guy had a halogen foglight set under his s-10... apparently he failed to ask anyone he saw around town what they did and assumed thats what it was. I saw them when he went up a hill, aside from that it just looked like a really weird set of neon (incandescent kinda glow) I've seen people take neon tag rings and put them under their cars, I've even seen people with a tube oinb each side under the vehicles and no front/rear tubes at all.... I can't udnerstand how, if people want to go for that kind of look, they're too cheap to spend $150 for A REAL SET instead of trying to rig all this stuff. I tell ya heh, neon may not be a very original idea anymore, but its certainly better than what some of the people here have tried lol

No they make under body kits with 2-36" and 2-48".

I just bought me set just then! As I was looking for the pic I found it harder to find them so I went ahead and bought as set.

sweet, take some pics of it if you can, I dont know if such would show up with a camera, I thought someone would do that, but was told by most shops and all that it "can't be done" you know how these people are.. if they dont have it in stock it "Can't be done" :P

I sure will! I have heard that the black lights look really good when you are driving down the road they make the lines just glow really bright and are not as obtrusive as the colored lights.

I think you'll be disappointed in the brightness of those neons and the overall quality (if they're not Streetglow brand).

its liteglow, liteglow and lowglow are the same company, I have lowglow and have had them for 4 years, the tubes aren't as long on the sides as streetglow, but it makes up for it on the front, I think they're comparativley bright.

all you have to do is cut off the cigarette lighter part thingamijig that goes into the socket. then run the postive to the battery with a fuse and switch, then run one to a ground.

i did this with my 9 inch mini neon tubes and it worked fine!

but then u lose the cigarette lighter usage.. what if u want to hook up ur cell phone charger or use the cigarette lighter? hehe.. y not just run wires from ur battery?

i think wat he meant was why not just cut off the plug of the light going into the cigarette lighter plug. not vice versa.
and yes this works perfectly fine.. i have about 20 lights rigged this way.

ah nice... thanks man. I figured i would try that when i did it, just wasn't sure if it would work or not because I haven't done it. but now i know :D

street glow does sell all sizes of car black lights, and i have seen many cars with them. bmxboy (carl) had a few blacklights in his interior (they werent all street glow, he used uv cathodes for some i believe). so you might want to ask him about it. i plan on putting blacklights in my car sometime or other, its just not high on my list right now. black lights rock though, you should definatly use em!

lowglow = liteglow, oh well streetglow is better, i've seen the hook up of a lite glow set. wow ridiculous i must add, they have a type of speaker wire (red and black for each tube) which you have to run to the transformer which has a red and black hole with the smallest DAMN FLAT HEAD U COLD POSSIBLY GET to screw the damn wires into and it is frustrating to get them to stay in half of the time. the quality, maybe the same? streetglow =10x easier to hook up and the quality will more than likely last unlike liteglow, my friend broke a liteglow tube( not the outside but the actually neon itself) by juss taking it out of the package....

It would be even stranger if it were installed in a hearse and the mortician from Phantasm were driving it. Then I'd NEVER buy them.

:)

It would just light up the underside of my truck and you could all see how dirty and crappy it looks under there...Good work lights though...
