A while back I started to have a problem with the driver side rear door. It opens normal from the outside but from the inside if you pull on the handle nothing happens. There isn't even an resistance. Anybody know what specific mechanism is jacked up? Even better how can I remove the the door panel to get in there and take a peek?

Hi Phil.

First make sure the child safety lock isnt on by locating the switch on the side of the door. If it isnt, your inside door handle will need to be replaced. I have the same problem. You can order the part from torrie@fordpartsnetwork.com for about $10.00 and I will email you some detailed instructions and pictures for replacing the handle. Send me a quick email at stephen@explorerforum.com and I will forward you back the information.

Good luck.

Bet it was the child-lock, those sneaky things :)

Nope, no child lock. (I wish though, that'd be so much easier)

i've had the same problem on and off.on mine i
found out that if i hit the unlock button a second
time the door opens without a problem.
it seems that the door doesnt unlock all the
way on mine.maybe look into that too.
