will 9006 bulbs work in fog lights?

I know 9005 bulbs will work. but will 9006?
im asking because i want to match my aftermarket headlight bulbs.
they only sell a 100watt 9005 and this seems too high for a fog light.
they sell a 85 watt 9006.
i currently run a 85/100 9007 in the headlights.

First, not all fog lamps will accept the 9005 bulb. I had assumed that mine would, but it was obvious when compared that my bulb was visibly smaller in both the base diameter and connector that the 9005. Mine apparently actually takes the 899 bulb, just like toe owner's manual says. Go figure.

Second, you can run a 9006, but the connector on the bulb won't fit because of the keyway built into both bulb and socket. You can probably modify either the bulb or the socket to fit.

Yes, you can use 9005 or 9006 in the fogs. I have had both and ended up just stickin with the 9005's so I wasn't blinding people.

So which is the best bulb to go with? I have the APC 9007 Super whites in my headlights and i want to get the same fog lights to match. Boy do they beat stock by 75%!!. So should I go with 9005 or 9006? Thanks alot.

As I understand it, 9005 are standard beam while 9006 are high beam. I'd use 9005s so you don't blind people too much and so you don't fry the wiring.

not all 9006 bulbs will fit in the fog lights. i tried a pair and they were too big. after an hour of filing i gave up and returned them. i tryed the optix/street glow brand.

Compared to stock the 9005's are alot better.
I put SilverStars in both my fogs and headlights and it is much brighter. I love the look.
