Has anyone tried making the driver and passenger window controls with auto up and auto down?

My friends new pathfinder has it and it's great, just curious if its possible to wire it that way or if someone has tried it already.

Thanks

That's easy, many have done it. Check for old threads, "auto down window module." I have one on my right window, and about seven more modules to add. Each module will control one direction of one window, for any switches for that circuit.

Most late 90's Taurus and Sable have the modules, a four wire device behind the door panel.

Auto up is a bad idea. Just think, you're hanging your head out the window talking to a friend and you accidentally hit the window button. Before you know what's going on and can get your head back in the window....Or your Dog has his head out the window and hits the button.

They have some kind of build in circuit breaker. If the window motor see's too much resistance it draws too much and clicks off.
My drivers window slows WAY down about half way down. When cold I click it to auto roll down and it clicks off when it hits that tough spot.

Don't leave your dog in your vehicle.....

I did in a 97 sport I had, I did wire it to the alarm, but you can wire it to a switch instead look at www.the12volt.com for how to's

Any devices to control the window functions will require cutting the same wires as the OEM auto down modules. That aftermarket device will be that way, same cutting/splicing. It will provide those extra features, but I honestly don't want to activate 2-4 circuits at once which will draw 15-20 amps or so each. That's a lot of juice to trigger at once. I prefer to do each window separately from the rest.

Hey Don, mine has been working for 8 years now with no issues, what damage do you think can happen?
The ones I've seen will do one window at a time, not all 4 simultaneously, so that might avoid trouble... :dunno:

That's what I'm worried about, triggering all the windows at the same time. I don't need to open them all at once. The amperage it would take for all four opening together is a lot to run through the one power wire, and the one ground wire.

I suggest being patient and do them one at a time.

Ok this one has a better description:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-AU-93...t=Car_Audio_Video&vxp=mtr&hash=item53dbe816a2

I have never seen one that rolls all 4 up at the same time (not saying they don't exist, just saying never seen one)

I see, they don't activate them all at the same time. That's great, I'd like that. I've seen modules like that before, but never read one that mentioned that it only activated one window at a time.

That's good to know, and I wish that they were more clear in the descriptions. I've seen the commercials where some VW would roll them all down at once, and figured that was the normal way others would work.

Mine does both at the same time, but it is an 8 year old model, it doesn't sense when it is closed or when there is something on it's way, so not a good option, my buddy has the 4 window one in his expedition and it does one at a time and it stops if it feels even a small interference (which I guess is good if a child were to stick the hand/neck etc in the way of a rolling up window).

Me being too impatient, wanted one to do all 4 windows at a time when I first got the 02, that's when I saw that the ones with better descriptions mentioned one at a time, so I didn't order one :p: now I lost interest at all in adding one to my truck, since I rarely open the windows...
