window regulator.

I have a 1999 four door and the front driver side regulator is bent up.
How? I don't know.
Need to replace just need to know if the motor is still good.
Can I get away with just replacing the regulator or should I replace the whole unit motor and regulator?

They get bent because with wear and dirt the rear of the glass gets hung up in it's channel. My daughter bent the hell out of her regulator. I was able to straighten it out and then I lubed the channels with Liquid Wrench brand foaming silicon spray. She hasn't had a problem with it since. It's been about a year and a half. I also had a problem with a '00 XLT I purchased over a year ago. It hadn't bent the regulator yet, so I just lubed the channels. It's been over a year and it still works fine.

If you have to replace your regulator, you can just transfer your motor to the new regulator if it still works.
