OK I have searched through different threads and people have had similar issues but they never seem to write an answer to how they fix their problem?

My passenger rear window is stuck down and will not go up. All the other windows are working fine from the driver's control and from their individual controls but the 'said' window also does not work from its individual control.

I believe there is power going to the door as the lock is locking when i lock the doors from the driver side and the light is illuminated on the rear switch now that it is dark outside.

I have took the panel off and hit the door, window etc but nothing. Like I said right now its still down and i cannot hand push it up. I was going to hand push it up and put some wood in there until I can fix it.

Any ideas, it cannot be the fuse but I am unsure Motor perhaps?

bang on the door panel while holding the up switch.... with key on or engine running.

thanks for the quick response...that was one of the first things i tried. I have just parked the truck in my neighbors garage as they are still down south just in case its rain will take another look tomorrow

You can pull the panel off and hook a car battery directly to the leads to the motors to raise the windows until you can get them fixed...

i have the panel off already so if i attach the battery straight to it will the window go up even if the motor is gone?

I guess i answered my own question there as i guess if the window doesn't go up after attaching the battery then the motor must be bad right?

OK so I just purchased a new motor from Napa while on my lunch break. For $50 I thought I can always take it back if its not the problem.

I first of all attached the new motor to the power/switch supply and when I pressed down on the switch the wheel on the motor would spin around but when I pushed up on the switch the wheel did not move.

So I am thinking that maybe the motor I already have is good, but why will it turn down and not turn the other way to put the window back up?

I have tried banning on the window lifting it with a screw driver everything...i can think off.

I have also switched the rear passenger and driver switches over and again it goes down but not up...so it cannot be the switches?

AARRGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said in a previous post drivers switch does the same thing will turn motor down but not up.

broken wire at the driver's door, I had the same issue with mine, it's a common problem, tons of posts about it, just look at the wire colors for the "up" wire and replace it from the switch to as far as you can go :p:

I thought it could be that and did take a quick look as I have had a problem with that before but that was for all the windows and a easy fix.
does anyone know what the up wire looks like before I go home tonight and take another look at it?

The driver switch is the master switch so if there is 'short' in the door 'boot' area that would also affect the switch not be able to work on the rear passenger door?
Thanks for the help guys....

In the meantime, since wiring can be a time consuming issue, get 2 leads of wire. Hook your battery to the window motor wire leads/plug. Hooking the wires one way would make the motor turn one way (roll down), hook them up the opposite and the window will roll up.

Yup

OK Joe I hooked the battery up and it worked like a dream, very easy going up and down with the battery attached. So now at least I know it is not the motor, regulator or switch. Somewhere that 'up' wire is broke. I had a quick look at the door 'boot' area but it started to rain will take another look this weekend at least the window is up cant believe i didn't think of using the battery to at least get the thing up :)

Glad you got the window up- and eliminated some parts to replace. Hey- necessity is the mother of invention... :) Been there, done that!

rhysup, the power window motors only have 2 wires going to them. The switch reverses polarity to perform window up & down. For instance, when you press the down button wire 1 is positive and wire 2 is negative, when you press the up button wire 1 is negative and wire 2 is positive. Since the window goes down, I have to believe the wiring is ok. You said you tested it with another switch that was known to be good with no change so I guess we can rule out the switch. This one has me stumped.

I am going to do some thinking about this one and will report back later.

thanks bigrondo....i like you have no idea what it could be and you make a good point. I literally had most of the truck in pieces on Saturday trying to find out what the problem was and checking the wires, switches, motors regulators etc and I am totally stumped. Usually I can work most things out but I really cannot see what the problem is and as you said the switch is getting power but simply will not go up.

I can't believe that I didn't think of this earlier:

Here is a great link for troubleshooting the power windows, thanks to theofam for this great link Dead Link Removed

Pinpoint Test E, starting on page 22 is for troubleshooting the rear passenger window. Page 25 outlines testing the rear passenger switch.

I downloaded it for future reference. I don't think it's available for download anymore. If you want I can email it to you, just shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll fire it off.

I have the workshop manuals and wiring diagrams for the '02. I can scan and send if needed.

Good luck with the fix. Electrical gremlins can be a huge PITA!
