Window Tint

my state law is 35% and the shop told me they are really cracking down on illegal tints. plus i dont know how to pass an inspection. Is it even worth doing a 35% tint on the front 2 windows? does anyone have pics with 35 on?

what state you live in?

Stock tint is either 35% or 50%, but definitely not 20%. Mine matches on my Mountaineer, and we have a legal limit of that. 20% is illegal almost everywhere, that is not what is on a stock vehicle. Regards,

Does anyone have pictures of a ford explorer with a 27% tint on the front windows?

my first post :)

I just bought an 04 xlt and i wanted to know what the tint was on my windows, there's a wheel and tire place up the road that checked my windows for free

my fronts are 82%
my backs are 20%

in massachusetts the legal limit is 35% on all windows and 6" on the windshield

i asked him why the backs are 20% if its illegal and he said that factory tint doesn't need to follow the state laws

on a separate note, now i need to find 47% to bring my fronts down to 35%

100-35 = 65
100-82 = 18
65-18 = 47%

35% is what it usually takes to match the rear glass, 50% will leave the fronts lighter.

I've got a 99 Explorer XLT. With what I guess is reffered to privacy glass on the rear, cargo and back windows? (correct me if I'm wrong) I'm thinking about having my 2 front windows tinted. Is there a % that would match the rears perfect or close to it? I don't see why you would tint over the factory privacy glass, as it's already dark looking, or would you? Thanks

15% matches identical but most places don't carry that. I have 20% and it's almost a perfect match.

The factory tint is not the same for all years and models. My 98 truck has 50% front tint as a perfect match for the OEM rears.

Why don't you just strip the front and redo them with the 35% that you want...it would be easier

Good luck finding 47% tint hahahaha

i live in massachusetts, i have 20% on my front windows, but watch out. the factory provides a uv protection which reads as 94%... i got pulled over with my 20% tint on and i lied to him and said it was 35%..... he took out his tint gun and it read at 14% lol... 250 dollars later its still on cause it looks so good..
