Window Tinting question

Yup, the tint is in the glass, not a film. That's why we're all having so much trouble matching it. Damn Ford, can't make anything easy on us :).

as far as I know.. my vehicle has the privacy glass ('97) if not.. it would be great that I could ditch that film.. although looking at my hatch window.. you'd think I'd be able to tell if it were a film or not?

I'm not realy planning on doing anything. .I've been thinking about it. if my windows break in an accident or something.. then I'll go get some clear glass off of an old explorer.. but until then.. thats not an option

It's not the film. I'm 100% sure because the "tint" is applied throughout the window. I still haven't installed the tint yet. I have a paper to type and an exam to study. Yes, I'm a procrastinator. Hehe. Tomorrow is my last day of school so when I get home tomorrow, I'll ask for some help from my friends and install the tint. I'll tell ya'll how it goes. But now...PAPER AND EXAM!!!! I just had this done this weekend on my 94 sport. They tinted the rears 30% Llumar Nichromium metallized tint, & the fronts were 15% of the same. The match is close. The front is a little lighter. But not bad. It's that reflective stuff. It's a dark smoke color, but is very reflective during the day(like a mirror) I have no problems seeing at night.

yup the tint is definetly in the glass and NOT a film........i thought it was a film and i know ford did use some.....at least on my dad's old aerostar. but my 95 tint IS IN THE GlASS............
i inspected my rear windows really closely today and came to the conclusion that i can't get rid of that bad bronzish tint.
looks like im just going to have to try and match the fronts as close as possible.

Yes they are that dark..

The only thing i can tell you is the back will be a little darker then the other windows... i think it looks better that way.... harder to see whats in the back....

You guys were saying that '91s don't have a factory tint. I've got a '91 EB and it's got factory tint on the rear windows. I've wanted to retint, but it's the privacy glass so no luck.

Okie doke. I'm quitting!!! This is pissing me off. I got the film during the weekend and decided to put it on yesterday. Well, I put it on yesterday and the film was sooooo stuborn!!!! There were bubbles everywhere and it won't go down below the weatherstripping felt. I decided to peel it off and take it to a professional someday. Oh well, I tried. Another $10 down the drain.

Hey guy's... as much we all like to do things our self... I don't think you should tint your own windows.... there is a lot that can go wrong... and its very hard to do.... + if the tint peals/bubbles/fades over time, your SOL if you did it your self... any place you bring your truck will guarantee it for life.. or mine is anyway... its the best $150 I have spent on my truck so far...
