2001 Explorer XLT SOHC
So, I replaced the hinges(a pin and bushing job, drivers front) on my 2001 Explorer XLT 4.oL 4X4. Now the windows don't work. Neither do the mirror motors. Checked the big fuse in the power distribution box. Took the door junction apart, again, and made sure there are no bent pins. Where do I go next? Is there any common problem like this?
BTW- Moon/Sun roof works fine.

Check for broken wires in the door boot both ends
Take your time

Did you happen to pull the plug from the power window motor? Check connections under the door handle where the power mirror connects.

I did some work on a friends sport track. Same symptoms you described all good fuses sunroof worked. Turned out to be a broken wire in the door boot. The trick was that the insulation didn't break, just the wire inside. I ended up pinching a 4in section of wire at a time and attempting to stretch it, eventually I found a wire that stretched right out then snapped open. Bingo, found the wire that was broken. Soldered a short section of wire in, shrink wrap and re apply the boot. Has been working for the past 5 years no issue. Best of luck to you, I wasn't the first guy to take a look at it, others has been in the door boot and didn't spot the problem as visually its fine.

OK, unbolted the connector, pulled the boot back, there are like 6 or more wires hanging loose from the block! CAN'T pull/push the boot back far enough to see/find the jam side end of ANY OF THEM. I do NOT find any way to get the boot off, other than cutting it, don't have enough wire to pull it back through the jam. Am i missing something or is it that difficult an operation i am trying to perform?

I recommend you remove the door (easy to do). Then you'll have lots of room to work on the wires.

Well, the deed is done. I DID have to cut the boot to get to the jam side of the broken wires. SEVEN in all. Put 4" jumpers on every one and soldered them in, closed them up with heat shrink. Many hours and a headache later, everything works again.
