I've always known about this feature. I didn't know it worked until I opened my doors. Always thought it was a timed thing. It definitely works on my '99. I tried all 4 windows numerous times tonight just for kicks. Thanks for the tip.

It's both, actually. It works for a certain period of time (I want to say up to 2 minutes, but don't quote me on this) or until a door opens, whichever comes first.
My 97 F-150 left the stereo on as well. It went away for the 2000 model year I never bothered to try and make it work, although I know it's just a matter of tying the switched input on the stereo to the accessory delay output from the GEM.
Not sure when they added the stereo to the Explorers' setup.
It also powers the stereo in my 1999 Explorer Sport for 10 minutes ....As long as I don't open any door...And leaving the keys in or removing them didn't matter; windows will go down and up as many times as needed.....
