I was thinking somtime after Christmas, we could all atempt a Winter Run. I do not know of many trails. But I am sure we can find one that we can run the Explorers down with snow. I am down for doing it anywhere. Southern VT or NH, even mass. But I have not heard much word on trails in mass though. Unless its a beach. I think issac was telling me awhile back there was trails in Bridgewater.

I'd be up for it...Provided the weather isn't too bad.... I would prefer to not wrench on my or Isaacs rigs in 2feet of snow to replace a blown part...

BTW I picked up some locking lug nuts from autoZone... the damn key broke after I installed 1 locking lug nut... I had to weld it back together to get the lug off... I will be bringing them right back...

I am there if it is in bridgewater.. not VT or NH

let me know..
thanks

last weekend with all the rain i was going to go sunday close to my house in freetown forest, but very not enough Balls to go alone in a 2wd especially with all the rain we had here..

I was talking about Bridgewater in Vermont. Its near Woodstock. Hate to say it man, but if your gonna wheel you basiclly gotta come up to VT or NH. I drove to the Cape, it was 6 hours.

I was thinking some back roads that dont get plowed much. We have alot in Vermont. It shouldm't put too much stress on your guys rigs. I was thinking of some ideas. If you guys wanted, you could Hotel it again. I would stay with you guys to cut costs. We could go out into town and go Galactic Bowling. Its when you bowl from like 11 pm to 1am or so with loud music with strobe lights and etc. Its really fun and they also have a Bar.

lol of coure you would say that as you live there lol..

If you can find any light trails with a near by happening town then I will be more then willing to travel within reason. In the past experience it seems VT is kinda a woodchuck happening place. Any ideas of places are perfectly welcome! I like to explore new sites. Like the Cape Cod Wheeling trip.

When after Christmas? I'm going to be on vacation in Burlington from Dec 26-Jan 2. I'll be driving a rental car (Either a Taurus or Mustang, haven't decided yet, but rental price is the same for either vehicle. My Explorer's tranny is leaking fluid from somewhere  and there is no way in hell I'm driving it to Vermont)

But if you plan this for the week I'm up there I'll come and visit you guys, I'm staying at the Doubletree for the week I'm there....got my room for $59 a night  .....I'll even bring my kids if they're game, otherwise they can stay in the hotel and swim or watch tv, because I told them that I was going to go out alone a few times.

That sounds like fun, only problem is I can't bowl worth sh** I put half of them in the gutter, but getting together with some friends is always fun. Let me know what's up ok?

Bridgewater, VT won't work because the "trails" (class IV roads) worth goin on are closed Dec 15 thru May 15. As far as other places to go in the winter, I'm not sure.

Sandy, I'd suggest against taking the mustang to VT in the winter. You know that a rental company will only have cheap all-season tires on there, and chances are better you'll get thru any bad weather better with the fwd.

I second that...I used to have a mustang and it was very challenging (to say the least) to drive in any snow.. A FWD car will be many times more capable/safe.

I'm not worried about over stressing the vehicles, but I'm worried that wheeling in snow can hide damaging obstacles  that otherwise would be seen & avoided. As such we should come up with a few possible destinations. We could then pick the one that best suits the current weather conditions etc.

The galactic bowling sounds cool... is their an age restriction if I decide to bring my entourage?

have you ever been to the freetown forest or what we used to call the pitts i assonet.alot of houses are ow built to where i used to go 4wheeling back in 1988.. but still lots is open but i can not venture to explore alone. with 2wd and all...
always fear getting stuck...

No age limit. Somtimes there are some scum bags there. But most people are good.

Hey I have a short trail in Mendon we could ride. It is supposed to be a closed road from DEC 15th till Apr 1st but my family and I drive it to et to camp! alot of people go on it in the winter. All else fails we could run on Townline it runs from One side of Mendon to Rt 100, I think its the backside of Killington. Just a thought, just trying to throw a freaking bone you know! Later - Nate

That'd be cool....I know the roads to Chatteguay are closed that time of year, but I'm not as sure about the ass end of Killington.

Do you have a specific time planned for after X-mas. Because I work 3rd shift on Fridays and Saturdays! Later - Nate

Thanks for you and Isaac's concern, I'll take you guys suggestion, since I'm not only planning to drive up, but also taking my girls to different places in and around the Burlington and Waterbury areas and want to be driving a car that will keep me and the girls safe........I checked the price of the hotel I'm staying at and the rate I reserved at is now up to $109.00 a night.........I'm glad I reserved my room back in October :D And if you guys decide to stay in the same area I'd recommend this hotel since it was the cheapest when I booked in October and still is the cheapest hotel in the area......this place does have an indoor pool.......and a hot tub too http://doubletree.hilton.com/en/dt/hotels/accommodations.jhtml?moreDesc=true&ctyhocn=BTVDTDT If you guys plan to do this, I'd advise you to book soon because the closer to Christmas it gets, the rates will go up more. I didn't have to pay up front but, you have to check in by 6:00 PM on the day you are supposed to arrive or lose your reservation....you can guarantee the reservation by using your credit card if you think you will arrive later than 6 PM. Also as long as you cancel by 6 PM local time on the day you are scheduled to arrive, you will avoid any penalties.
