It was not my wiper switch as I had thought last night. After looking at a wiring diagram, and testing power sources I discovered my wiper governor was not working. I had looked at the diagram, the high circuit is routed around all this mess, but low, park and delay are all on this governor. It had power going to the governor, but none going to the motor when the switch was moved from high to low.

So here is the procedure on replacing that.

The Victim...errr I mean patient.

First you will need to remove the cover/panel below the steering column. For this a 7 MM socket or nut driver will be needed. Unscrew bolts, and pull down.

you will need to be on the right side of the column, refer to arrow in picture

I know this is hard to see, but you will need a 5.5MM socket, short as possible, and a short 1/4in drive ratchet. Unscrew the 2 bolts on the outside of the bracket seen in the pictures and pull governor down. when the governor is down, press in the tab on the side of connector and pull off the connector

Putting it in is a little bit tricky, I recommend getting the bottom bolt started and tight enough to suck the governor over towards the bracket, then start the top and tighten both down.

After that is completed, put on the cover and be done with it.

This is the best post I've seen on this subject. My problem directed me to replace the switch then replace the motor. Did both to no success. I'm curious though after finding a source for the SW-2338 that my year didn't show. I have a 2001 Ford Ranger. Do you know if this part is right for me?

Best way to tell for sure would be to pull yours out and check the part number on it.

Keep in mind a lot changed between 94 and 2001 so the electronics may be completely different. You may have better luck posting in the Ford Ranger - Mazda B-Series Forum section, or the 1995 - 2001 Explorer Ranger Mountaineer section. People in this particular section will be most knowledgeable about 91-94 Explorers.

By the way, welcome to the forum!
