Wire colors.

I have a '99 Sport with the base system, i believe, and I was just wondering if anyone knows what the 2 red/black wires coming from the radio are for?
They are red with the two black stripes on them.
I cut one when connecting my changer and it didn't seem to affect anything but I know they have gotta be for something.
Anyone know?

Red with black stripes are for illumination. One is power coming into the radio for illumination and the other is going out to the instruments for illumination. Hope that helps.

I've an explorer 96 xl with audio premium, but without the both connectors.
