Wire Harness

[95/96 explorer]

Hi, New to this forum just a quick intro.

I have been rebuilding my sons explorer (complete wreck) for some time the body is done and painted , 4.0 engine auto trans non awd It's looking good but still some problems the engine was a obd2 engine and the body was obd1 and I need to change the wiring to make it compatable to the engine. Will I have to change the ecm? If so no problem. I'm sure I can find one. My biggest problem is the harness I have read it is not compatable with the obd2 system.
Obd 2 would make it easier to scan and read codes so thats the way I am leaning.

I don't have a definite answer for you but I know my 95 has an OBD II port. It does not have the downstream O2 that OBD II has and probably other things though.

FYI no 4.0 explorer is AWD. 4WD yes, its not the same.

Thanks for the info on the awd/fwd, No I didn't know that the 4.0 were just fwd learn somthing new evert day. Thanks
