wire through firewall?

I was wondering if yall just drill a hole and run the power wire straight through the firewall, or do yall go through a grommet so that the wire wont get cut over time?

I just used the rubber membrane that is on the driver's side underneath the dash.

It's easier to use the grommet that's already there. Just pop a little hole in it and run your wire.

Well I would of used one already there, but my amp kit came with a grommet so I was gonna use that. I drilled the hole and then it turned out that the grommet was to small for the wire!!

I drilled right behind the break pedal... worked out nicely.
