Wireing fogs to the chime that the headlights are on?????

I always leave my fog lights on and run down my battery! Is there a way to wire them so that when they are on, the chime will sound like my headlights are on????

The chime is most likely controlled by the GEM. SO easiest solution is to set up a relay for fog/Driving light power rigged to the ignition. So the only way the fog/driving lights come on is if the key is in the "ON/Run" position. Thats what I did on a previous vehicle. Then you dont have to worry about forgetting and the 12V relays are cheap.

you gatta break it down to me. What is a GEM and how would I wire it to the ignition? There are millions of wires up there I don't wanna F it up! lol

Forget the chime. Wire the fogs so their relay trigger power comes from a source that is switched with the ignition. Turn the key on = fogs work. Turn the key off = fogs are off = no more dead batteries.

Ok, Brokedown.....Go to the auto parts store and get a 12V relay. Then set it up per the diagram on the package for the 12+ for the lamps running through the relay. There is an activation wire on the relay that runs to your switchable source. Light the radio circut or anything that requires "key-on" to function.Also, There should be a few blank spots with one pin in the interior fuse box. Use a test light/meter to find one that is activated by key, you can hook the relay activater up there without having to tear the dash apart.

There should be a diagram for the relay on the package anyway. But it is simple to figure out once you see it. Hope this helps,

I just have the 2 fogs in the front come up and it is grounded and on the batt. Then the wires come up through the firewall and go to a switch which is grounded and has a power on it because it is lighted. I just thought if I put them on the same stock wires as the headlights are on I would be asking for a fire considering it is 11 years old.

Take a look at the diagram and links in the FAQ section. This is how lights should be wired to be safe and put out full wattage. The wire that provides power for the switch is connected to one of three places depending on when you want your lights on.
Take a look and ask about what you dont understand.
