hello
i have a 97 xlt v8 and was trying to do the simple task of hard wiring a set of 1" tweeters into the front speakers of the stock stereo. my problem is there are 16 speaker wires coming out the back of the stereo. i tried the old method of just cutting a wire to see what speaker cuts out but none do. it sounds like just the mid or tweeter in the speaker cuts out. are there actually 4 wires per speaker? if so does anyone know the easiest way to tie in a couple of tweeters? i found the color codes for a 94 on this site but it is totally different from my 97. i thought about pulling the door panels and stock speakers to see what color the wires are (that is if they run the same color from unit to speaker) but do not want to go that rout if i dont have to. so any help would be great or even a link to a wiring diagram.
thanks in advance.

Id say the best way is to pull the door panels, check the color of the speaker wires, then find those on the back of the radio. There should only be two wires per speaker as far as I know.

Alternatively, get a Ford wiring diagram and look up the color of the wires.
