wiring nightmare! fog light/headlamp problems.

Is it possible you can trace that green/red wire back to its origin? Diagrams show light green/red as the ECT sensor signal. There is also a light green/red wire that goes from the alternator/voltage regulator to the charge warning indicator on the dash. There is yet another one that runs between the brake switch and fuse 13 of the interior fuse panel. I could probably find more but I think this is a good start. Any trouble with these circuits? Does battery light come on on the dash with key on/engine off?

To trace the wire, might be chore, it is in split loom, which has been taped, so I would not like to do that, unless there is no other option. Everything as far as I know works as it should, No BCM codes, except for a bad ground on passenger side window switch, which I fixed right after I found it. I tried to look for a connector that it could go into, but I found nothing, but I feel like it can only go so far to plug into something... My Coolant Temp Sensor works, at least the gauge fluctuates, and works as the engine warms up, Same with the Alternator gauge, it drops with a load, like my stereo. All my brake lights work with no issue. As for the Battery Light it comes on with the key on Engine off, but goes out after the truck has been started.

Is it possible the stripe on that wire is orange instead of red? Even then, not many promising options- interior lights relay control, blend door ref (w/ auto HVAC controls; also a solid black wire coming out of there), cylinder 6 injector (i don't think so... haha), horizontal memory seat sensor, and accessory delay relay coil power. Otherwise it has me beat. Looks kind of like the connectors on the back of dash switches. If nothing noticeable is not working I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks man, I'll look into it a little more tomorrow. Maybe I'll stop at the Junk Yard tomorrow to see if I can find it on other Explorers... But like you said, if it all works, there really isn't a reason to worry, still not sure about that green wire though.

So I wasn't able to find anything on the plug, or the green wire, I looked up connectors on Alldata, and all it told me was that "C146 LH rear corner of engine compartment
C147 LH rear corner of engine compartment
C148 LH rear corner of engine compartment
" Which is the 3 connectors, and C146 is the one the green wire goes into, but I am not sure where it goes to, or what it does, so I am at a loss for that... Still lost here guys, and idea what I got going on here?

So I found the connector pinout, but it seems that none of the wires are a solid green color, so I guess I need to go onto the truck to see what wire they spliced into and see what it is then.

Pin Layout...

Perhaps someone just tapped into one of the wires on that bulkhead for a relay signal or something like that. I doubt that wire is stock. Just unplug the bulkhead, take it apart and see where that wire is coming from.

I am hoping it is that easy, and that they didn't cut another wire to rig it up to work. We'll see sometime in the next week. when I install my seats I will take a look and see what is going on.
