I say you lose the running boards. Then again I have always disliked running boards on any vehicle and spent a good deal of time trying to find an X without them ( I liked the tupperware).

Having since removed my seriously mangled tupperware I like the clean body lines much better.

The little holes that are left behind can be easily plugged with 3/8" sheet metal hole plugs. Sorry I forget the technical name, but you'll find em at home depot.

I ran over all of mine with touch up paint and they are barely noticeable. Might be more so on light paint, but hey there only .05 each so you can always pull em and remount your boards.

P.S.
I was wondering what would happen when you got some criticism from people. Thanks for taking it well, and not disrupting the board.

my opinion...you have a car with them leave them on, X's don't look good IMO if you had/ve them and then take them off, the only thing i would say is if your going for the offroad look with the safari bar lift and what not...get some nerf bars to replace the running boards. Personally I like them on I have them on my car, the only thing that blows is when it snows/muddy it all cakes up on them and there no longer useful

i am looking at getting some stock tupper wear/flares and nerf bars from a xlt sport and having it painted to match..but im torn with leaving the stock boards and just getting bush wacker flares...or going with the ford flares and nerf bars..im just going to have to think about it alot..

dreamr, i really have tryed to better myself..i hope some of you can see that. if not by me saying that..with my actions. i have does some growing up over the last year atleast IMO anyway.

i have sense fixed that chip and placed the boards back on. i dident like the frame showing and all those little holes. looks cleaner with them on. but thank you guys for the input.

Want some tupperware...........It's even signed by the cascade mountains many times over.
:D :D :D j/k

Good luck with your projects.

it does look better with them off....

it would look awesome with them off, but with some square sliders

looks tons better off. running boards are :thumbdwn:. i think they look hideous imho and can ruin a perfectly good looking vehicle.

I think its better with them off. With that said, the running boards you have do not look bad at all. I would say if there are any holes or scuff marks from them being on in the first place, to put them back on to hide them.

At first glance, with them off, It resembles a Jeep Grand Cherokee from the 90's

I think they all look better with out running boards.
Do you really use them?
They are good for collecting road dirt.

i used to use mine. when it would snow id jump into my explorer and stand on the step bars while stomping my boots off.

yeah i use them to much to get rid of them. and when i start drving i will have people using them all the time. and im sure after my body lift i will def use them then.
