Got a call from my dad today telling me he woke up to his explorer running with lights on at 3:30am. His remote doesn't have the remote option, I asked him if he left it running, and he said no. And there is only one key for the vehicle. Can anyone help

My 86 year old Father has left his Honda running on several occasions. Usually when is distracted, such as by the dog or any other circumstances, like groceries. Luckily, it is not a real problem (yet), and I have mentioned it to him and he agreed to be more careful.

It would be easier if the problem were the vehicle.

Good luck, best wishes, and spend as much time with Dad as you can.

Also, Welcome to this Forum.

So it was running WITHOUT the key in it?

If it’s running without a key I would suspect first a bad ignition which didn’t cycle to off, or that it does have a remote start. An awful lot would have to go wrong, in order to start the vehicle.

Thank you

You did say earlier that the truck has no remote start. See if you can get the key out of the ignition while leaving the engine running.... if this is the problem, it is easy fix, but the truck would have still been left running.

I did not intend to offend you, or to be unfair to your Dad, but I do stand by my earlier post.

Take care, and best wishes.

It started it on its own?! I've never seen that one before.

Better get a hold of The Ghost Hunters! Maybe we'll see you on Travel Channel!!! :p
